Manglerud International Classes follows the Oslo School's regulations for leave of absence as follows:
How many days can you apply for?
You can apply for leave from school for up to two weeks (ten school days). It is up to the school to decide whether a student should be granted leave. The school can reject the application even if it is reasonable for the individual student to have time off.
Requirements for applicants
Leave is not granted during
- National Examinations and Screening tests
- Diagnostic testing in Oslo schools
- Local exams, oral or written (i.e. Assessments)
- Tests and assessment situations as stated in the school's calendar
It is not common to grant leave for holidays, training campus or simiarl, or when a setudent has prior undocumented absences.
Leave students are entitled to when they have applied in advance:
- Special events and celebrations (Memebers of religios communities outside the Church of Norway have the right to leave on their religjous community holidya such as Eid)
- Special events (politial work, family events)
- Sports and cultural competitions/events at a high level
If you have already used the ten allotted days in a school year or have several prior undocumented absences leave will not be granted.
Application deadline
Apply for leave well in advance of when you want leave, preferably three weeks before.
How to apply
Go to the application form: https://login.idporten.no/authorize/selector
What happens next? The school processes the application. Processing time is usually three weeks. If it takes longer, you will be informed of how long the school needs to process your application.
Appeals
If you wish to appeal the decision on leave, you must complain within three weeks after you have received a response to the application. The appeal must be sent to the school that processed the application. Read more about the leave regulations in the Education Act.
Breach of rules
Those who do not apply for leave within a timely manner will be denied the leave and it will be registered as undocumented. Those who exceed the ten days leave run the risk of losing their place at Manglerud International Classes. Those who take leave without approval will not be granted leave in the future. Those who are in breach run the risk of not being granted leave for up to two academic years following.
